BULL CREEK PS NATURE PLAYGROUND

The Bull Creek Primary School P&C approached Nature Based Play to design a Nature Play outdoor area for their school. The concept for the kindy playground area was to create a natural play space surrounding the existing fort which would give the sense of immersion and enclosure in nature.

The plan expanded on the existing rocks behind the fort to create a rock scramble, which can be activated by the teachers to create water cascading down. Other features integrated into the existing play equipment included a cubby space, an interactive log abacus, balancing experiences and quieter reflective play space in an alluring landscaped natural setting.

Nature Based Play believes that, especially in the context of Nature Play, there is much to be gained from pursuing a deeper understanding of the cultural, spiritual and educational practices of First Nations peoples.

Our offices and workshop are located on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar, though our work takes us all across the State. As such we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work throughout Western Australia.
