The new principal at newly established Yarralinka PS contacted NBP to complete a small landscaped Nature play area for the new school. Designing within an area with an established bike race track, several small pocket nature play areas were designed and built to provide a variety of play experiences within the playground. These included water play, loose parts cubby building, balancing and climbing experiences and quiet sitting and reflective play areas.
Nature Play Elements:
WaterPlay: Rock water mound; Carved timber water troughs, Carved water logs,
Balancing: Balancing Nest with perch decks; Rope Nest; Balancing logs and rocks;
Active: Twirl Bars
Sensory: Sensory Totems
Shelters: Cubby bones and Loose parts cubby building
Basics: Landscaping, ground logs and rocks, plantings, Softfall mulch; Sitting Steppers
