NBP returned to Montessori Port Kennedy as part of the design masterplan to add some natural elements to the Kindy play area. The area was quite sterile with lots of straight lines, so our designer set about breaking up those lines to create a softer, more textural sensory experience.

A stump slide is the main feature, with lots of cool steppers to climb and slide into a sandpit area surrounded by carved rocks. A sensory wall has bespoke sound and textural elements embedded in the timber. A small water play area has been created, featuring a carved log and stump to allow for water catchment, sure to be a hit with the kindy kids. A timber planter box creates an interesting feature and will hold a climbing passionfruit, adding some greenery to the space and covering the wall while protecting the plant behind.
