ISLAMIC SCHOOL KINDY NATURE PLAYGROUND

Al-Hidayah Islamic School invited NBP back to complete a section of nature play for their kindy children. Previously covered in artificial turf, the new space offers a wide range of play experiences integrated into natural features.

A huge bespoke fort rests in the centre, featuring a tunnel, hiding spaces, climbing opportunities, slide and fire pole. A deck stage and fairy bridge encourage creative play while nearby is a log abacus and looking glass to inspect nature’s gifts up close. Water play flows from a rock mound to a sandpit bordered by carved top logs. Locally sourced rocks and logs provide plenty of physical play opportunities.

Nature Based Play believes that, especially in the context of Nature Play, there is much to be gained from pursuing a deeper understanding of the cultural, spiritual and educational practices of First Nations peoples.

Our offices and workshop are located on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar, though our work takes us all across the State. As such we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work throughout Western Australia.
