ALDERLEY PARK NATURE PLAY

Nestled under peppermint trees, the new nature playground at Alderley Park in Wilson is designed to entice children to jump, climb, slide, hide and discover natural elements in a dynamic play environment.

A timber giant offers a climbing challenge and a great view from the top, while the humpback climber with its naturally twisted timbers reminds us all what fun it is (or was!) to climb trees. A traditional slide and swings feature, as well as interesting logs and rocks for climbing and balancing. The cubby is a perfect opportunity to seek out loose sticks and branches to create a hideout, and carved top logs will collect water in the cooler months. A looking glass gives the opportunity to closely examine found pieces of nature.

Nature Based Play believes that, especially in the context of Nature Play, there is much to be gained from pursuing a deeper understanding of the cultural, spiritual and educational practices of First Nations peoples.

Our offices and workshop are located on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar, though our work takes us all across the State. As such we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work throughout Western Australia.
