Description: This community park has proved very popular with local residents and tourists alike. The project was an initiative of the Denmark Shire and the Royalty for Regions Program. The community collaboration in this project included: School children from the Denmark Primary School and the Golden Hill Steiner School; local farmers and timber workers; local earth-workers and artists; Pardalup Prison community work team.
The name Kwoorabup stems from the Noongar name ‘Kwoor’ for the Western Brush Wallaby which was once found living around the Denmark River.
“The Committee was most impressed by the passion shown by Terry for the project. From a personal point of view, with experience of some 30 years in the construction industry, Terry would be in the highest category of people I have had dealings with. Highly recommended…From the commencement of the project to completion, Terry was a pleasure to be associated with. His work ethic was exceptional, co-ordination of sub-contractors, prison work crew and Shire staff could not be questioned.”
