Client:              City of Cockburn
Location:         Windmill Dr, Windmill Park, Cockburn
Dates:              July, 2020
Outcome:         Public Park Nature Playground

The City of Cockburn approached Nature Based Play to design and install a small Nature Playground adjoining an existing playground, in their public park.

Integrating with the existing nearby playground site, the nature playground was built to complement the site. This included incorporating natural limestone rocks into the existing limestone block borders, with a feature timber logs and balancing logs, with carved log waterplay. Landscape play features were also incorporated including grass mounds, ground/border sitting logs and rocks, plus mulch.

The result was a nature playground that created an aesthetically pleasing space, blending well with existing mature trees and playground, and provided a nice quiet space to sit and play.

Nature Based Play believes that, especially in the context of Nature Play, there is much to be gained from pursuing a deeper understanding of the cultural, spiritual and educational practices of First Nations peoples.
