TUART HILL PS NATURE PLAYGROUND (STAGE 1)

Client: Tuart Hill Primary School
Dates: Nov, 2020
Outcomes: School Nature Playground

Tuart Hill PS came to Nature Based Play to design a Nature play space in an under utilised outdoor area in the school, surrounded by trees and some existing play equipment. Designing within the whole site, an array of nature play elements were included to provide a diverse range of play experiences for the children.

Play elements included a mini balancing nest and rock scramble for climbing and balancing. Recycled wharf rope was used to create a rope tangle, and our timber artist Mac carved a stunning snake head for the moveable rope snake.

Other elements included in the nature space were ground logs, timber verticals and soft fall mulch.

Nature Based Play believes that, especially in the context of Nature Play, there is much to be gained from pursuing a deeper understanding of the cultural, spiritual and educational practices of First Nations peoples.

Our offices and workshop are located on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar, though our work takes us all across the State. As such we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work throughout Western Australia.
