Riverton PS had previously engaged NBP to design and construct Stages 1 & 2 of a nature playground for their school. This area was highly utilised and loved by the children and was in need of expansion.

Stages 3 & 4 were completed in Dec 2021, to create a truly engaging space for the children to explore and enjoy.

The plan incorporated a natural Adventure Loop pathway, incorporating ground logs, rocks, steppers, a rope walk and balance nests. Recycled wharf rope was used to create a sturdy tug of war game.

The design includes a yarning circle where stories and knowledge can be shared in a safe environment. A music circle, with log drum and sensory totems offers a sensory experience to support the holistic development of the children.

Several cubby spaces and cubby building areas encourage imaginative and physical play to learn, risk-take and self-regulate.

The finished product has revitalised the play space and provided new challenges while supporting the children’s development.
