The Merredin College nature playground was an exciting and truly collaborative project with the school and local community. The concept design was completed through an onsite workshop, resulting in a unique nature playground suited to the needs of the college.

With the help of the local community and enthusiastic and skilled volunteers, the NBP team was able to create a complex nature playground for the school and community, well below normal budget for a project of this size. It was an intense week of work in the regional area, but very rewarding seeing it all come together with the local community. Locals supplied and mobilised timber logs, rocks and mulch, and assisted with parts of landscaping and construction, in a truly collaborative effort.

Nature Based Play believes that, especially in the context of Nature Play, there is much to be gained from pursuing a deeper understanding of the cultural, spiritual and educational practices of First Nations peoples.

Our offices and workshop are located on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar, though our work takes us all across the State. As such we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work throughout Western Australia.
