Nature Based Play was asked by Little Learners to create a space for their new Nature Kindergarten – a very new concept for Early Learning Centres. The design was to be very ‘organic’ and real, reflecting a desire for the space to be as natural as possible and to give kids an ‘in-house’ experience of nature. This was reflected in the design layout, using natural materials, and through ‘gnarly’ timbers being left raw with bark on for the kids to experience and explore.

The small area was transformed into an amazing nature play space, packed full of different Nature Play Elements, brought together in design to provide a cohesive and wonderful play area for the young kids. Water and mud play was incorporated, along with music areas and balancing logs. A special feature was the timber tunnel and cave space for the kids to explore through.

A very special Nature Playground Space brought together through a very passionate client, clever design and amazing timbers and materials, handcrafted into wonderful nature play features and play areas.

We can’t speak highly enough of Terry and the team at Nature Based Play.
We have engaged them on two major redevelopment projects at our Child Care Centre and on both occasions, their attention to detail, capacity to accommodate specific requirements and ability to deliver on time and on budget was fantastic.
From the visionary drafting of plans to the implementation, each detail was considered in terms of the children’s wellbeing – and the capacity to spark and challenge their imaginations in outdoor play.
The team at Nature Based Play doesn’t just deliver amazing unique, natural outdoor environments, they live and breathe the philosophy of actively encouraging children to engage with the outdoors and learn through those experiences which ground and connect them with nature.
If you are looking for a genuine partner in the creation of a unique and wonderful environment for outdoor play, look no further – you have found them!

Nature Based Play believes that, especially in the context of Nature Play, there is much to be gained from pursuing a deeper understanding of the cultural, spiritual and educational practices of First Nations peoples.

Our offices and workshop are located on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar, though our work takes us all across the State. As such we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work throughout Western Australia.
