LITTLE LEARNERS DAY CARE NATURE PLAYGROUND – STAGE 1

Location: 242 South St, White Gum Valley

Commissioned: Design and Construct

Nature Play Elements: Water play, balancing logs, stepping logs, cubby, sound discovery, rocks, fairy bridge

Description: NBP was commissioned by the Director of Little Learners to completely transform their outdoor area from paving, pool fence and plastic play equipment, in the Early Learning Centre’s activity and play areas with Nature Based Play. Working closely with the centre’s vision, a tailored design was created to maximise play-based learning and health outcomes for the early learning age groups. The result is a unique nature playground and activities centre, meeting the needs of the Early Learning Centre, which transformed the existing outdoor play area.

Water Play was an important feature to allow kids to be kids and get messy in their play, whilst being imaginative spaces. The project utilised existing materials, with the paving bricks recycled into mounded, curvy, seating islands.

NBP works closely with Little Learners to continually add nature play elements to enhance their play and activities space. Stage 2 will be commencing soon with a Bush Kindy theme in mind.

Nature Based Play believes that, especially in the context of Nature Play, there is much to be gained from pursuing a deeper understanding of the cultural, spiritual and educational practices of First Nations peoples.
