NBP was asked by the Aspiri PS school management to complete a Nature Playground MasterPlan for their new school, opening in 2019. The challenge of the concept plan was to bring life and scale to the flat sandy area, along with providing an interesting and challenging nature play space within a tight budget for a large area.

The resulting design included a landscaped and mounded nature playground, with a variety of climbing, balancing and interactive nature play items, along with an incredible one off featured large cubby hollow log. The final constructed playground was a beautiful landscaped play space, with natural features and creative nature play structures.  The new school outdoor spaces were enlivened, with plantings to create shade and soft landscape into the future.

Nature Based Play believes that, especially in the context of Nature Play, there is much to be gained from pursuing a deeper understanding of the cultural, spiritual and educational practices of First Nations peoples.
